This ACU is sturdy, fits great, and the pattern is mottled, sand/light green (more than it looks in the picture). Chest pockets could have been a little deeper - seems to be a common problem with many modern ACU designs - but definitely worth the price.
I've used Katadyn filters on deployments since the 90's, including in Colombia, Honduras, and the Dominican Republic. Essential kit for overseas travel to remote areas. Larger ones avail for team-sized deployments that can filter several gallons in as many minutes. This one worked well for me recently in the Appalachians and was suitable for 3-4 person team. Lightweight.
Emergency Prep and Home/Self-Defense Gear
Wired here into a Dodge Ram 2500. It was easy to install: 2 wires to the battery terminals, one grounded to the chassis. The EMP SHIELD has a heavy stick-on Velcro mount, but we used two mounting screws for a little more security. Hard to rate unless we get hit by an EMP, but these are allegedly being installed in military vehicles. Makes sense.
Tried this 'sports' band specifically for trail-run days. Call it hypervigilance, but I don't like running in remote areas w/o protection, and a bouncy butt pack is an annoyance. Bought the XL which is recommended for 44" and above belly. I go between 40" and 42" (depending on the time of year) but opted for the larger one. Fits well and can be used anywhere for concealed carry. Highly recommended.
If you're deploying to a hot zone (or are a potential terror target here at home), you may want to bring one of these along to conduct your car bomb searches. A simple telescoping mirror also works and depending on where you might be more dependable.
Essential kit. If you're going to hang your ass off the side of a building or cliff, go only with a known brand like Bluewater. This rope is static - not dynamic (i.e., elastic). It is not used for 'lead climbing' since it won't absorb any of the shock from a fall (your body will - not good). This is only for rappelling, rescue, etc. I keep 150' length in my vehicle in case of emergency rescue, with a fixed loop (bowline) on one end to save a few seconds if necessary.
